100 Economists Workshop 2023 Here’s an Effective Way to Control Basic Food Prices According to Anies News – 26 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Presidential candidate (capres) Anies Baswedan said that transparency of food price information could be a strategy to control prices so that they get out of control. He also gave an example of the steps implemented by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Jakarta Food Information website, which can also be accessed via an application on a cellphone.

“What we do is efficiency, transparency of price information. Those who have cellphones can download IPJ, Jakarta Food Information. In Kramat Jati there are prices, but they are not known by the people of Jakarta. We are not doing price efficiency, but price transparency,” he said in the Workshop of 100 Indonesian Economists organized by INDEF and CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (8/11/2023).

“We want to shop at the stalls, the stalls go to the market. If they want to shop, they can look at the prices. For example, if they want to shop for red chilies at Pondok Labu market, then look at the prices at Kramat Jati Market. If the price difference in Kramat Jati is not much, they will move “I went to Kramat Jati Market. What happened? Prices in Kramat Jati are controlled. Because of the transparency of information,” explained Anies.

However, he added, currently, Jakarta Food Information cannot synchronize or provide prices from the producer level to the Kramat Jati Market.

“In the future, we will carry out price transparency so that we have information on commodity prices. That is what we will improve together,” said Anies.

In the workshop, Anies explained his vision and mission in the economic sector for the next 5 years. According to him, there is some homework that must be completed as soon as possible.
