Quoting from the QS World University Ranking 2023 report, a number of colleges or universities in the Middle East region are starting to show progress in the world. Interestingly, most of the best universities in the Middle East region are in the Kingdom of King Salman, Saudi Arabia.

The following is a list of the five best universities in the Middle East region.


1. King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia

Based on the QS World University Ranking 2023, King Abdulaziz University (KAU) is ranked first in the Middle East and 106th in the world.

Launching from Times Higher EducationKing Abdulaziz University is a university founded by King Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud in 1967 in Jeddah.

Initially, King Abdulaziz University had the status of a private university. However, this university which provides a number of scholarships has been converted into a state university since 1974.

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals is one of the best research campuses in the Middle East which was founded in 1963.

To support the quality of education, this university located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia collaborates with a number of the best and most well-known universities in the world, such as Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the Technical University of Munich (TU Munich).

Meanwhile, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals’ superior study programs are Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mining and Mineral Engineering, Chemistry and Mathematics.

3. Khalifa University, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

According to the QS World University Ranking 2023, Khalifa University is the third best university in the Middle East region and 181st in the world.

Khalifa University, which was founded in 2007, includes teaching and research in the fields of science, engineering and medicine through three faculties, namely three research institutes, 18 research centers and 36 academic departments.

This university, which is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, has an average capacity of 15 students per class. This is implemented to maintain quality and balance the ratio between lecturers and students.

4. Qatar University, Qatar

Qatar University is a state university that is in the fourth best position in the Middle East region and 208th in the world.
