Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Every year, November 14 is celebrated as the Birthday (HUT) of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) of the National Police. Currently, Brimob Polri is commemorating its 78th anniversary.

The Brimob Corps is a special operations unit of the National Police which is tasked with dealing with high-intensity threats to Public Security and Order (Kamtibmas). Since 14 November 1946, this unit has been officially called ‘Brimob’.

Even though the name only became official after independence, the role of this unit has existed since March 8 1942, in the midst of the transition from Dutch power to Japan.
