Anies-Imin’s Promise: Taxes & Customs Are Separated from the Ministry of Finance! News – 19 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan and vice presidential candidate Muhaimin Iskandar plan to realize the formation of a state revenue agency. Where the tax and customs authorities are separated from the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

They outlined this plan in the Vision, Mission and Work Program for a Fair, Prosperous Indonesia for All. They included this plan in the agenda for improving state financial institutions.

“Realizing a state revenue agency directly under the President to improve integrity and coordination between agencies in order to increase state revenue,” said the two in the Vision, Mission and Work Program document quoted on Tuesday (24/10/2023).

The plan to establish this agency actually emerged during the era of President Joko Widodo’s administration. Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin opened his voice regarding the discourse on separating the Directorate General of Taxes from the Ministry of Finance. The Vice President confirmed that there is a study being carried out by the government regarding this matter.

“Look, I think the issue of the position of the director general of taxes is being studied comprehensively. We will wait for the results, what will be the benefits, benefits and so on,” he said in Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province, Monday (20/3/2023).

But what is certain, according to Kiai Ma’ruf, is that there must be changes in terms of taxation. “Whatever the results will be, they will be more transparent, secondly there must be an increase, thirdly it is important that the tax ratio which is still low increases,” he said.

“Well, I think whatever form it takes, it will be separate or still below, but later the results of the study will be produced,” he continued.

Chairman of the MPR RI Golkar Bambang Soesatyo supports the plan to separate the DJP from the Ministry of Finance. As a replacement, an autonomous tax management body (State Revenue Agency) will be formed which is directly responsible to the president.

This was expressed by him at a press gathering with the Coordinator of Parliamentary Journalists in Bandung, West Java, Saturday (18/3/2023).

“The idea of separating the Directorate General of Taxes from the Ministry of Finance is actually nothing new. This was one of the visions and missions of President Joko Widodo’s campaign in 2014. Even when I served as Chairman of the DPR RI for the 2014-2019 period, this issue was discussed. However, until now has not been realized,” said Bamsoet some time ago.
