Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Prime Minister of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, revealed the reason behind musician from the United States (US), Taylor Swift, who only stopped by Singapore to perform the “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour 2024” concert in Southeast Asia.

Launching from SkyNews, Srettha said that it turned out that Taylor Swift had signed a special agreement with Singaporean promoter, AEG Presents Asia not to hold the Southeast Asia “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour 2024” concert outside Singapore. In fact, the Singapore government is willing to spend billions of rupiah to reach this agreement.

According to Srettha, the Singapore Government offered US$2 million to US$3 million or around Rp. 31.24 billion to Rp. 46.86 billion (Rp. 15,620/US$) to pay for each Taylor Swift concert in Singapore.

It is known that the singer of the song “Blank Space” will hold a concert in Singapore for six days, namely 2, 3, 4 and 7, 8, 9 March 2024. If totaled per number of concert days, it is possible that the Lion Country Government paid Taylor Swift around US$12 million to US$18 million or around Rp. 187.44 billion to Rp. 281.16 billion for six days.

“The Singapore government is very cunning,” said Srettha, quoted Monday (19/2/2024).

According to Srettha, Taylor Swift is able to bring huge profits to every country she visits. Srettha said that Thailand would be “flooded” with sponsors and tourists if the singer who was born on December 13 1989 could hold a concert there.

“Even though we have to subsidize at least 500 million baht (or around IDR 217.43 billion and assuming an exchange rate of IDR 434.87/baht) the concert will be very beneficial,” said Srettha.

“Concerts can generate added value for the economy,” he stressed.

In fact, Taylor Swift had planned a concert at the Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani, Thailand in 2014. However, he canceled the sold-out concert for no apparent reason.

Then in 2024, the singer with the album Midnights it will be a six-day concert at the National Stadium Singapore. Until now, Singapore is listed as the only location in Southeast Asia that Taylor Swift will visit for The Eras Tour.
