Bill Gates Talks About Human Fate, Doomsday Schedule Is Certain Tech – 19 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Bill Gates is pessimistic that the “doomsday” of climate change can still be prevented by the world’s population. The billionaire founder of Microsoft believes that the global warming “limit” of 2 degrees Celsius will be reached in the next few years.

At the COP28 climate change conference in Dubai, representatives from countries around the world for the first time reviewed the success of achieving the targets in the 2015 Paris Agreement. In the agreement 8 years ago, representatives of countries set the goal of “limiting global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius, or more a good 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial period levels.”

Currently, the world is 1.1 degrees Celsius warmer than the pre-industrial period as a result of burning fossil fuels and unequal use of energy and land.

“Fortunately, we have made enough progress that extreme scenarios such as 4 degrees Celsius will not occur, but sadly the 2 degrees Celsius target will definitely be passed. Therefore, adaptation must be a priority,” said Gates in an interview with CNBC International, last weekend.

In the last year, Earth has continued to set records for its hottest temperatures. Various disasters related to climate change are also increasingly occurring in various locations in the world.

“We are going through warming, most likely above our target. Here adaptation is important, namely in the midst of global warming that can be done that is not expensive, such as better warning systems for weather-related events or better data so farmers know the best times to start planting,” Gates said.

He said the world’s focus should be on helping the world’s poorest citizens to face the impacts of climate change and trying to keep impacts on ecosystems to a minimum.

Gates is still optimistic about the opportunities for future generations of humans even though they are faced with the climate crisis.

‚ÄúThere are still a lot of amazing things coming from human innovation, better medicine, AI [kecerdasan buatan] that can help educate children. At the same time, there is polarization, the climate crisis, it’s very dynamic.”
