Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Media company Perum LKBN Antara is holding a photo exhibition entitled “Press, Democracy & Development” which depicts the world of the press in Indonesia, from the revolutionary era to the present.
Acting DKI Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono said he hopes this exhibition can help build education for students regarding Indonesian historical events.
“First, the presentation of historical photos is quite high, the next is Antara’s participation in preserving historical buildings. This is the location of one of the historical buildings and this can be a destination for elementary, middle and high school students to be able to see this building. Second “is studying history,” he said when met at the Antara Gallery building in Jakarta, Friday (16/2).
For information, this photo exhibition is to celebrate National Press Day (HPN) 2024 which will take place in the Gallery room, Antara Heritage Center Complex or previously known as Gedung Antara Pasar Baru, on Friday, February 16 2024.
Some of the photos displayed also show the journey of elections in Indonesia, starting from the first election in 1955 to the 2024 presidential and vice presidential candidate campaigns.
Apart from that, there are several results of development, both infrastructure and public facilities, during the last ten years during the era of President Joko Widodo’s leadership.
President Director of Perum LKBN Antara, Akhmad Munir, said that the photo exhibition was designed to be opened in the Pasar Baru Building, a building full of history, called the Antara Herritage Center, a building that was founded in 1925.
“We hope that it will be a revitalization of the spirit of struggle, Antara as a state-owned media that can fulfill the interests of the nation and state,” said Munir.
Meanwhile, Art Curator at Perum LKBN Antara, Ismar Patrizki, said that this exhibition displays three aspects, namely the press, democracy and development. This means that the press plays a major role in safeguarding democracy and development in this country, with all its dynamics.
