Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 holidays are only a few days away. Thus, it is not wrong if you start planning activities for the upcoming holiday period.

Based on the Joint Decree (SKB) of Three Ministers Number 624 of 2023, Number 2 of 2023, and Number 2 of 2023 which were signed by the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), there are two red dates on December, namely Christmas Day and Christmas Holidays.

According to the SKB regarding National Holidays and Collective Leave 2023, Christmas Day falls on Monday, 25 December 2023. Meanwhile, collective leave falls on Tuesday, 26 December 2023.

Thus, you can go on holiday for four days, namely Saturday, December 23 2023 to Tuesday, December 26 2023. Meanwhile, the 2024 New Year holiday falls on Monday, January 1 2024.

Appeal from the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy
Even though the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) has ensured the readiness of all tourist attractions that will be visited by domestic tourists (wisnus) and foreign tourists (tourists), the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, advised tourists to wear masks while enjoying the year-end holidays.

Sandiaga said Singapore was facing an increase in Covid-19 cases. In this regard, Sandi said that his party had taken precautions, one of which was coordinating with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes RI).

“An appeal to the public to travel to Indonesia only because, like in Singapore and other destinations, there have been outbreaks of several cases of disease,” said Sandi in a media meeting at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, quoted Thursday (7/12/2023).

“One of them is Singapore, where Covid-19 cases have doubled,” added Sandi.

Thus, Sandi advised the public to return to using masks to maintain health. Moreover, he had seen a number of people experiencing coughs in the middle of the changing seasons and before the Christmas holiday.

“Earlier at several meetings, I thought this was anecdotal, it had increased threefold. So, there’s no harm in us wearing masks again,” said Sandi.

In connection with Sandi’s statement, the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes RI), dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, revealed that every week the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia tends to increase.

“In our country, it has been observed that this month there is an upward trend, from week to week,” said Dr. Maxi in an online press conference, Wednesday (6/12/2023). “The average confirmed cases per day is 40, perhaps 35 to 40 per day,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) admitted that not only Singapore and Malaysia, Covid-19 cases in Indonesia also experienced a threefold increase in cases during the period from October to November.

“Is there also an increase in cases in Indonesia? The answer is yes. If we look at these months, until November 2023 the data shows that there has indeed been an increase [kasus],” emphasized the Chair of the PB IDI Covid-19 Task Force, Dr. Erlina Burhan, in an online press conference, Wednesday (6/12/2023).

In line with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy’s statement, the Indonesian Ministry of Health and IDI have again appealed to the public to use masks, especially if they are in crowded places and/or are experiencing symptoms of illness.
