Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned the Chairman of Commission IV DPR RI Sudin on Wednesday (15/11/2023). Sudin was questioned as a witness in the corruption case of former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said that Sudin had complied with the summons and was currently undergoing examination. “The Sudin’s witness arrived at 9.30 WIB,” said Ali, Wednesday (11/15/2023).

Previously, Corruption Eradication Committee Director of Investigation Asep Guntur Rahayu explained why Sub-Department was being investigated in this case. He said the Corruption Eradication Committee suspected that SYL’s corruption money was flowing to Commission IV. Commission IV is a working partner of the Ministry of Agriculture in the DPR. However, Asep has not explained in more detail regarding Sudin’s role in the alleged case.

“From the statements of the witnesses, we have to trace where the money flows, one of which is to Commission IV of the DPR,” said Asep.

Corruption Eradication Committee investigators previously also searched the Sub-Department’s house located in Cimanggis, Depok on Friday (10/11/2023). From the search, the Corruption Eradication Commission confiscated various documents, including electronic evidence and financial records.

Ali Fikri said the KPK would analyze the evidence. The results of the analysis, he said, will be followed by a confiscation process to complete the SYL case file. “Confiscation to become evidence accompanied by further analysis was carried out to fulfill the completeness of the case file for the investigation of suspect SYL et al,” said Ali.

Sudin is the chairman of Commission IV DPR who comes from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). Commission IV is a working partner of the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture, the Corruption Eradication Committee named 3 people as suspects, namely Syahrul and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono, as well as the Director of Agricultural Machinery, Muhammad Hatta.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that Syahrul ordered Kasdi and Hatta to carry out levies against officials at the Ministry of Agriculture. At the direction of SYL, KS and MH ordered their subordinates to collect a certain amount of money within echelon I, Director Generals, Agency Heads, and Secretaries in each echelon I with an amount determined by SYL ranging from US$ 4,000 to US$ 10,000.
