Foreign Media Highlights RI Presidential Election, This Presidential Candidate Becomes Featured News – 4 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Not only is the national media competing to highlight the three pairs of presidential or vice presidential candidates who will compete in the 2024 presidential election, foreign media is also highlighting the Indonesian presidential election. It is stated that one of the partners will be superior to the other.

For your information, three candidates participated in the Indonesian presidential election, including Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

“Indonesian presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto topped the fourth poll in a week on Thursday,” wrote Reuters, as quoted on Saturday (28/10/2023).

“Even though he is only narrowly ahead of Ganjar Pranowo from the ruling party ahead of the start of the campaign next month,” he added in an article with the title “Indonesia’s presidential contender Prabowo maintains slim lead in new survey”.

Reuters itself published an opinion poll conducted on October 16-20 of 2,567 respondents by the Indonesian Political Indicator. Prabowo narrowly won with 37% of the vote, with 34.8% supporting Ganjar and 22% supporting Anies, with the survey having a margin of error of 1.97%.

“These results reflect most opinion polls in recent months which show Ganjar and Defense Minister Prabowo neck and neck, with Anies in third place,” he explained.

“This latest survey was carried out after a court decision that criticized the suitability of the candidates effectively allowed Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the son of President Joko Widodo, to join Prabowo as his running mate,” wrote Reuters again.

On the other hand, the media also conducted an opinion survey regarding the dynasty. The results show very “concerning”.

“Almost 76% of respondents surveyed said that Jokowi should not side with certain candidates,” said the media.

“The indicator also measured participants’ opinions about the dynasty and found that almost 48% of respondents viewed it as ‘very worrying’ or ‘quite worrying’. The pollster said that Gibran’s entry had the potential to harm Prabowo’s vote,” he concluded.
