International King Salman’s son suddenly calls NATO, what’s going on? News – 3 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The son of the king of Saudi Arabia Salman Bin Abdulaziz who is also the country’s Minister of Defense (Menhan), Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, held talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. This happens when the Middle East region heats up.

On the official NATO website, Stoltenberg welcomed the development of closer relations between NATO and the Saudi Kingdom. He added that he looked forward to the possibility of developing dialogue and cooperation in areas such as maritime security and freedom of navigation, protection of critical infrastructure, and the fight against terrorism.

“His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud accepted an invitation from Stoltenberg to visit NATO Headquarters in Brussels in early 2024,” wrote the official statement, quoted on Thursday (14/12/2023).

The second call occurred when the Middle East was heating up because of the war between Israel and Hamas. Saudi’s southern neighbor, Yemen, with the Houthi group in power, has launched attacks on Israeli territory and stopped ships connected to the Jewish state.

Meanwhile, several weeks ago, during a lull in the war between the two, Stoltenberg emphasized his concern about the war in the Middle East. He hopes that the pause will be extended to optimize the distribution of aid.

“This pause will allow for much-needed assistance for the people of Gaza, the release of more hostages and the provision of more humanitarian aid,” the NATO chief said.

“Upholding international law and complying with humanitarian law is important, whatever the type of conflict,” he concluded.
