Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Russian government opens its voice regarding the sweeping carried out on Israeli citizens. This happened in the Republic of Dagestan, where pro-Palestinian mobs stormed the airport, looking for Jews.
Russia blamed “external interference” for anti-Israel riots that closed airports in the Muslim-majority region. Previously the crowd stormed after rumors circulated that a flight was arriving from Israel.
“Yesterday’s events at Makhachkala airport were, to a large extent, the result of external interference,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, Monday (30/10/2023).
“Against the backdrop of TV broadcasts showing the horrors taking place in the Gaza Strip- the death of many people, children, the elderly – it is very easy for the enemy to take advantage and provoke the situation,” he said again.
Unfortunately there are no details from the Kremlin. Peskov did not provide further details regarding his claims of “external interference”.
On the other hand, state media previously quoted the Dagestan governor’s statement. He said, “the initiators of this action are our enemies who organized this action from the territory of Ukraine”.
On the other hand, Russian police said they had arrested 60 people. All are suspected of storming the airport and attempting to attack Jewish passengers arriving from Israel.
In response to these events, Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold a meeting with his top advisers, including the defense minister and spy chief. This was to discuss “Western attempts to use events in the Middle East to divide Russian society”.
