Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The World Superbike (WSBK) event or World Superbike Championship for the 2024 season will certainly no longer be held at the Mandalika Circuit, Lombok. In fact, the competition attracted many spectators.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said, the Mandalika circuit is only focused on MotoGP events and sports tourism. This is also the first time that the Mandalika Circuit has not been included in the WSBK series list after holding races for three consecutive seasons.

WSBK is the first international racing series to be held at the Mandalika Circuit in November 2021. The last WSBK Mandalika was held on March 4-5.

The reason, according to Sandi, is because from an economic perspective the event does not make much money or profit.

“World Super Bike is indeed good in terms of the number of spectators, but in terms of calculating the impact on the local economy and sustainability in terms of implementation, this is a record,” said Sandiaga in a press conference Monday (30/10/2023).

“Finally it was decided that WSBK would not be continued, but replaced with events which is more impactful,” he added.
