Jokowi Changes Jesus Christ to Jesus Christ, Holidays Change Lifestyle – 21 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The name of the Christian religious holiday underwent a change after the government officially changed the nomenclature of Isa Messiah to Jesus Christ in the official calendar.

This change was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, in a press statement at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture office, some time ago. He also said that the Ministry of Religion would soon draft a presidential regulation as a legal basis.

“There will be a change in nomenclature based on the Ministry of Religion’s proposal regarding the term, namely Isa Messiah will be changed to Jesus Christ,” said Muhadjir, quoted from his statement, Saturday (14/10/2023).

Deputy Minister of Religion, Saiful Rahmat Dasuki, explained that the reason for the name change was a suggestion from Christians. So, the government responded by agreeing to change the name of Jesus Christ to Jesus Christ.

“This is a proposal from Christians and Catholics that the nomenclature name be changed to what they believe is part of what they believe in, namely the birth of Jesus Christ, the death of Jesus Christ, and the ascension of Jesus Christ too, so it is indeed their proposal,” said Saiful.

“It was their proposal and we fought for it. Thank God it was accepted,” he added.

This means that the three national holidays related to Jesus Christ, namely the birth, death and ascension, will be changed to Jesus Christ.

Previously, three ministers, namely the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister for Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform had completed a meeting to determine the 2024 National Holidays and Collective Leave.

“For 2024, the government has decided on a total of 27 national holidays and collective leave, consisting of 17 days of national holiday and 10 days of collective leave,” said Muhadjir in a press conference for the 3 Ministerial Decree on National Holidays and Collective Leave in 2024.

Determination of the number of national holidays and collective leave for 2024 refers to Presidential Decree No. 251 of 1967 concerning holidays as stated in Presidential Decree No. 3 of 1983 concerning amendments to Presidential Decree No. 251 of 1967 concerning holidays.
