Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the FIFA Jakarta Office at Menara Mandiri II, South Jakarta, Friday (10/11/2023). Jokowi praised FIFA’s steps in this regard.
“FIFA’s decision to build a permanent Asia-hub office in Jakarta proves that Indonesia has enormous potential to develop and advance Indonesian football at the global level,” said Jokowi when giving his speech.
The former governor of DKI Jakarta said the government was fully committed to facilitating FIFA to improve the integrity and quality of Indonesian football. And ready to work together to develop adequate sports infrastructure and develop young Indonesian talent.
Apart from that, Jokowi also hopes that the presence of the FIFA Jakarta Office will be the first step to achieving brilliant achievements in the sport of football. Also improving the quality of competition within the country.
“As well as inspiring young people to achieve their dreams of strengthening sportsmanship and conquering the world,” said Jokowi.
FIFA President Giovanni Vincenzo Infantino said the reason for building an office in Jakarta was because of the potential of Indonesian football. Apart from that, Indonesia is also an important country in the Southeast Asia region.
Apart from that, FIFA also wants to work with Indonesia to improve security governance and combat match-fixing practices.
“And the most important thing is to develop football for men and women, with the construction of the FIFA Academy training center,” said the man who is usually called Gianni.
Apart from that, according to him, Indonesia is also a country that is willing to invest for the future. So, FIFA wants to participate in collaborating and investing with Indonesia.
“And as a country that invests in the future, it is the right place for FIFA to work together for the future of Indonesia and all of East Asia,” said Gianni.
Gianni also said that the plan is for at least 20 – 30 FIFA representatives to have offices in Jakarta.
