Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – McDonald’s is one of the most famous fast food restaurant companies in the world. The restaurant was founded in 1940.
Initially McDonald’s was founded by two brothers from San Bernadino, California. Maurice, whose nickname was Mac, and Richard McDonald’s opened their first restaurant in 1948. This restaurant sold hamburgers, fries and milkshakes.
Today, McDonald’s is not only one of the largest fast food restaurant chains in the world, but also one of the most iconic companies in the world that has more than 39,000 stores in approximately 120 countries worldwide.
The restaurant chain employs more than 1.7 million people and serves more than 70 million customers.
McDonald’s success as a brand comes from its affordable food prices, very fast service, diverse menu, and strategic marketing.
Many countries that have McDonald’s restaurants have different menu items that are unique to that country.
Countries that don’t have McDonald’s
Even though McDonald’s has more than 39,000 restaurants worldwide and continues to grow every year, it turns out there are still many countries that don’t have a McDonald’s. There are several possible reasons behind this.
According to reports World Population Review, a number of countries lack supply chains and infrastructure making it difficult to ensure smooth operations of McDonald’s. There are also countries that are politically unstable, or whose people are too poor, so that the operational costs involved do not make it a wise investment.
However, the list of countries that do not have McDonald’s continues to decrease every year. For example, Brunei and Tunisia finally have McDonald’s in 2021.
