Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The use of 5G or what is known as fast internet is not only for mobile applications. However, its use will reach something even wider.

“This is how the speed increases. 50-100 Mbps straight to 1 Gbps. It just has to be followed by an increase in needs. If only YouTube and social media are 4 Gb 8 Mb, watch Netflix 8 Mb,” said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, at the Digital Creative Leadership event Forum, in Jakarta, Thursday (9/11/20230).

Meanwhile 5G will produce speeds of 500 to 700 mbps. Its use is for autonomous cars to the Internet of Things (IoT).

“Autonomous car, IoT, if you only watch YouTube, what are you doing so fast,” he said.

Budi added that to achieve 5G speeds, support from various other sectors is needed. One of them is from the health sector

With 5G, the health sector can provide services remotely. This can be done provided the internet is very fast.

“This means that 5G speed requires the support of various other sectors, especially industry. Health requires long-distance surgery. If the internet is fast, 500-700 Mbps to 1 Gbps, the doctor is enough in Jakarta,” he explained.

Indonesia is also known to have developed a 5G network. Several regions can already access this network.

The new capital, Nusantara will also be covered by a 5G network. Budi said the network must be there because of the implementation of the smart city.

“Look, if IKN has to do 5G, it’s a smart city, but only 50 Mbps,” said Budi.
