Palm Oil Boss Boss Opens Voice About Palm Oil Land Entering Forest News – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Palm oil entrepreneurs responded to the government’s statement regarding palm oil land being included in forest areas. And question the accuracy of the data.

General Chair of the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (Gapki) Eddy Martono said that the 3.3 million hectares (ha) of oil palm land that is claimed to be in the forest area is not necessarily all included in the forest area.

“3.3 million hectares is still an indication, it doesn’t necessarily mean that all of them are actually forest areas. Because, it is still indicative. Therefore, there will be clarification later,” said Eddy to CNBC Indonesia, Friday (8/12/2023) .

“For example, it turns out that the company has already released the forest area, why is it that in the indicative map it is included in the forest area or even has HGU (cultivation rights). Because in the indicative map it turns out that the farmers’ ownership certificates during the PIR-Trans program were also included in the area. forest,” he continued.

Eddy said that the Palm Oil Task Force formed by the government had also summoned several Gapki member companies to clarify the issue of overlapping land.

“For clarification, several Gapki member companies have been summoned by the Palm Oil Task Force. It is hoped that the presence of the Palm Oil Task Force can help speed up the resolution of this problem,” said Eddy.

As is known, the Director of Forest Area Use at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Muhammad Said previously revealed that there are approximately 3.3 million hectares (ha) of oil palm plantation land which to this day is still in forest areas.

“From a total of 16.38 million hectares of oil palm plantations, at least 3.3 million hectares, if you look at the forestry map, are still in forest areas. Of course this is a problem and efforts must be made to resolve it immediately,” said Said in National Meeting of Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers APKASINDO in Jakarta, Thursday (7/12/2023).

Said said that the oil palm plantations were spread over several areas, namely in the main area or conservation forest land, protected forest and production forest.

However, Said admitted that he still did not have accurate data regarding the 6.74 hectares of community oil palm plantations or the equivalent of 42% of the total 16.38 million hectares of national oil palm plantations.
