Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT PLN (Persero) won five prestigious awards from 12 categories at the 2023 Power & Energy Awards held by Enlit Asia. The first achievement in the three years of holding this event was achieved thanks to the navigation of PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo who was also awarded the “Male Executive of the Year” category in the same event.

The awards won by PLN include Power Utility of the Year, Innovation of the Year for the PLN Mobile application, Renewable Energy & Sustainability Project of the Year for the Cirata Floating PLTS Project, and ASEAN Electrification Project of the Year for the electrification of Kalimantan.

Portfolio Director of Energy for Clarion Events Asia, Simon Hoare, explained that Enlit Asia seeks to involve various parties, educate and advance the energy transition in Asia.

“At Enlit Asia, we aim to encourage greater collaboration across the industry by connecting and engaging all stakeholders in the energy sector in Asia, from regulators, technology providers, to energy consumers, bringing international perspectives on one platform to take action towards “the future of sustainable energy in Asia,” explained Simon in a written statement, Sunday (26/11/2023).

Simon also explained that this event was a recognition of parties committed to the energy transition in the Asian region. The winners were determined objectively by a panel of 34 judges who had backgrounds as professionals, experts and academics across countries.

“This award is a benchmark and recognition for society and the business world who have gone above and beyond in encouraging the progress of the electricity and energy sector in Asia,” explained Simon.

It is known that in the previous two years of the Power Energy Awards, the winners were dominated by Bahan National Berhad (TNB) from Malaysia, SP Group from Singapore and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) from Thailand. Meanwhile, at the Power & Energy Awards this time, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo excelled in the “Male Executive of the Year” category, surpassing executive nominees from other companies, namely Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) from South Korea and HDF Energy from France.

Meanwhile, in the Power Utility category, PLN outperformed Bakun Hydro Power Generation from Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh Power Corporation from Vietnam, SP Group from Singapore, and Bahan Nasional Berhad from Malaysia.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo expressed his gratitude for the award from Enlit Asia. According to him, this award is the result of PLN’s transformation efforts in responding to global challenges.

According to him, PLN’s transformation in the last three years has changed the company from backward looking to forward looking. In other words, PLN’s previously manual business processes have become end-to-end digital in terms of generation, transmission and distribution to support energy transition efforts.

“Currently we are facing the same challenge, namely climate change. For this reason, we are building an electricity plan that is environmentally friendly in history. We have developed a more aggressive strategy in accelerating the use of new, renewable energy,” said Darmawan.

However, continued Darmawan, to face these challenges, PLN cannot operate without collaborating.

“Through this event, we share PLN’s dreams. We will build a strong foundation for strong collaboration in the future,” he said.

Darmawan said that the award was the result of the hard work of all PLN employees in improving the company’s performance and service to the community. Therefore, this award will be an encouragement for all PLN employees to innovate and provide the best service to the community.

“This award is given to 60,000 PLN people who work hard to serve customers better,” concluded Darmawan.
