Prabowo-Gibran Promise: Salaries for ASN, TNI/Polri & Officials Rise News – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and deputy Gibran Rakabuming Raka made sweet promises to the State Civil Service (ASN), TNI/Polri and state officials if elected in the 2024 election. This promise was a salary increase.

“Increase the salaries of ASN (especially teachers, lecturers and health workers), TNI/POLRI and state officials,” wrote the Vision and Mission document for Advanced Indonesia, quoted by CNBC Indonesia, Thursday (26/10/2023)

It was explained that the salary increase was important to improve public services.

“Good public services will be implemented if the state civil servants (ASN), especially teachers, lecturers and health workers (nakes), the Indonesian national army (TNI), the Indonesian police (POLRI) and state officials are in a prosperous condition,” he explained .

“Therefore, their income needs to be increased appropriately. The salary policy is directed at the provincial minimum wage (UMP) with the highest salary range referring to professional positions, although implementation is carried out in stages according to the state’s financial capabilities.”

In 2024, the State Civil Apparatus (ASN), including Civil Servants (PNS), PPPK, TNI and Polri will have a salary increase of 8%. Pensioners are also larger, namely 12%.

Based on CNBC Indonesia’s records, after being elected as the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gus Dur increased civil servant salaries very significantly, almost 3 times, to be precise 270%.

This is the highest increase during Indonesia’s independence. Gus Dur’s term of office was no more than 2 years. The political situation in the country meant that Gus Dur stepped down in July 2001 and was replaced by Megawati Soekarno Putri who became the first female president in the Republic of Indonesia.

In the Megawati era 2001 – 2004, state servants received a salary increase of 15%.

Finally, the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudoyono (SBY) was the most loyal. It was recorded that SBY increased civil servant salaries 9 times with varying amounts.

When he first took office in 2004, SBN increased civil servant salaries by 15%. After that, SBY failed to increase civil servant salaries for 2 years. It was only in 2007 until the end of his term of office that SBY routinely increased civil servant salaries every year. The largest increase occurred in 2008, namely 19.5%.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) previously only raised civil servant salaries twice, namely in 2015 and 2019. The increase in 2019 coincided with the end of Jokowi’s first term of office as well as the political year.
