Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – It has been observed that national car sales have not been able to achieve a performance beyond 2022. Sales since the beginning of 2023 have only once recorded a figure exceeding 90 thousand units, namely in January.

Meanwhile, in 2022, national car sales will repeatedly reach the level of 90 thousand units. In fact, in 2022, car sales will continue to rise since June, after a deep collapse in May, which was recorded at 49,710 units.

Gaikindo data shows that car sales in October 2023 were recorded to increase by 352 units to 80,271 units. This achievement makes October sales the third lowest since the beginning of 2023, after sales in May and September.

When compared to sales in October 2022 which reached 93,194 units, car sales in October 2023 were 13.86% lower.

Accumulatively, national car sales for the January-October 2023 period were also 1.80% lower than the accumulation for January-October 2022. That is, from 851,399 units to 836,049 units.

LCGC sells well

On the other hand, unexpectedly sales of environmentally friendly cars at affordable prices (low cost green cars/ LCGC) actually recorded positive performance in 2023.

Where, LCGC car sales in October 2022 were recorded at 18,062 units. This figure jumped 14.57% to 20,695 units in October 2023. LCGC sales in October 2023 were also higher than sales the previous month which was recorded at 17,148 units.

In accumulation, LCGC sales for the January-October 2023 period jumped 20.56% compared to the same period in 2022 which was recorded at only 146,726 units.
