RI Covid Cases Soared Sharply Not Just Due to the New Tech Variant – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Covid-19 cases are starting to rise in several countries, including Indonesia. Today, Sunday (17/12/2023), new Covid-19 cases in RI reached 349 people.

The total number of active cases currently stands at 1,983, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Health.

The spike in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia started at the end of last November. Weekly cases, which were previously only 30-40, increased to 267 patients in the period 28 November to 2 December 2023.

The increase in Covid-19 cases was accompanied by an increase in the number of tests. On the other hand, there are allegations that the new variant triggers a faster transmission rate and is easier to infect.

“There are several factors causing the increase in Covid-19 cases. Firstly, there is an increase in awareness of pneumonia symptoms such as those that are spreading in China. One thing that is also checked is if there are complaints of coughs, colds, get tested for COVID-19. These initial symptoms are the same, automatically there will be an increase detection,” said Dr Nadia, quoted from Detikcom, Sunday (17/12/2023).

Nadia said that Indonesia had recorded zero deaths several times after the Covid-19 emergency status was lifted several months ago.

However, as a matter of caution, people are asked to postpone traveling to countries with a high record of Covid-19 cases.

However, if you need to go abroad urgently, you should still maintain the Covid-19 health protocol.
