It means:

“Assalamu’alaikum. O dwelling place of the believers. God’s promise has come to you which was postponed to tomorrow, and we, God willing, will follow you.”

2. Read istigfar

After saying greetings, Muslims are also advised to recite the istigfar sentence:

God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing. َيُّ اْلقَيُّوْمُ وَأَتُوْبُ إِلَيْهِ

Astagfirullah hal adzim alladzi la illaha illa huwal hayul qoyyumu wa atubu ilaihi.

It means:

“I ask Allah Almighty to be effective, there is no god but Him, the Almighty, the Almighty, and I repent to Him.”

3. Reading short chapters of the Koran

Some of the letters of the Koran that are read during grave pilgrimages are as follows:

– Surah Al-Fatihah (3x)

– Surah Al-Ikhlas (3x)

– Surah Al-Falaq (3x)

– Surah An-Nas (3x)

4. Reading Yasin

The procedure for visiting graves before fasting is also recommended to read Yasin’s letter during grave pilgrimage. Reading Yasin’s letter is fadha’ilul ‘amal, meaning, it is the main practice carried out for good purposes.

This has also been narrated in a number of hadiths.

اقْرَؤُا عَلَى مَوْتَاكُمْ “يس”

It means:

“Read Yasin’s letter to the deceased [di antara] you.” (HR Abu Dawud)

مَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ وَالِدَيْهِ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ أَوْ أَحَدِهِمَا Facebook كَ آيَةً أَوْ حَرْفًا

It means:

“Whoever makes a pilgrimage to the graves of his parents every Friday and then reads the letter Yasin next to him, will surely be forgiven as many verses and letters as he has read.” (HR Ibn ‘Adi).

5. Prayer for grave pilgrimage

The next procedure for visiting graves before fasting is to read prayers. The following is the reading of the grave pilgrimage prayer:

God bless you God willing message َا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ

God bless you يْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِ، وَأَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ، وَأَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَ God willing ونَوِّرْ لَهُ فِيهِ

Allahummagfirlahu war hamhu wa ‘aafihii wa’fu anhu, wa akrim nuzuulahu wawassi madholahu, waghsilhu bii maa’i watssalji walbaradi, wa naqqihi, minaddzzunubi wal khathaya kamaa yunaqqatssaubul abyadhu minad danasi.

Wabdilhu daaran khairan min daarihi wa zaujan khairan min zaujihi. Wa adkhilhul jannata wa aldzhu min adzabil qabri wa min adzabinnaari wafsah lahu fi qabrihi wa nawwir lahu fihi.

It means:

“O Allah, grant forgiveness and mercy to him. Grant him salvation and pardon him. Give him honor, widen his entrance. Bathe him with water, ice and dew. Cleanse him from mistakes as You cleanse white clothes from dirt.

Substitute for him a house better than his house, a wife better than his wife. Enter him into heaven, give him protection from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of hell. Make room for him in his grave and enlighten him therein. (HR Muslim).

6. Don’t sit or walk on graves

Not sitting or walking on graves is also one of the procedures for visiting graves to respect the spirits inside. In Islam, respecting a corpse is the same as respecting a living person.

This is also narrated in a hadith.

7. Watering the grave with water and flowers

Watering graves with water and flowers is sunnah. This method is done so that the condition of the body in the grave remains cool.

This is also narrated in a hadith.

أن النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) رش على قبر ابراهيم ابنه و bat

It means:

“Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad SAW watered [air] on the grave of Ibrahim, his son and put pebbles on it.” (HR Abu Daud)
