Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – General Chair of the Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers Association (Apkasindo), Gulat ME Manurung said that currently encouraging the palm oil industry is not only related to productivity, but also how to improve the welfare of farmers. Especially regarding the rules for Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), which are considered to be expired.
Moreover, the prices of CPO and FFB are not connected. So in the current conditions, he said that oil palm farmers really need new rules or regulations that really support the sustainability of oil palm.
“FFB price regulations have expired. Previously the size of clothes was M, now they are XL,” explained Gulat in a special dialogue “Managing the Future of Indonesian Palm Oil”, Thursday (16/11/2023).
In fact, he continued, currently the palm oil industry is one of the sectors that supports the Indonesian economy. Not only a contributor to labor, palm oil is one of the sectors that contributes to generating the highest foreign exchange.
“We are waiting for ease of regulation. That is why it is important to support the economy farmers and Indonesia. Palm oil is not just for farmers. “But Indonesia and the world also enjoy it,” he explained.
As is known, farmers are a very important part of the palm oil industry. For this reason, in encouraging the sustainability of this sector, Gulat explained, the government’s support for farmers is needed.
“I happen to observe a lot about palm oil. We are very good. We all know the disease. We all know the medicine,” he said.
