Taufik Hidayat Position 2 with Most Votes, Potential to Pass to DPR RI

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Former badminton athlete Taufik Hidayat is running as a candidate for member of the DPR RI from the West Java II electoral district. Taufik is now in second place on the list for the Legislative Election in the 2024 Election as of Monday (19/2) morning.

Based on calculations on the KPU website as of Monday at 13.00 WIB, the legislative candidate from the Gerindra Party managed to collect 21,041 votes. The number of votes was only behind Rachel Maryam Sayidina who received 28,058 votes.

Rachel and Taufik’s vote tally far exceeded the vote tally of other legislative candidates in the Gerindra Party. TB Ardi Januar, who is the number three legislative candidate for the Gerindra Party, has currently only won 5,329 votes. Meanwhile, other legislative candidates only received votes in the range of 1000 votes.

Overall in the West Java II electoral district, Taufik Hidayat’s vote tally was at the top. Apart from Rachel Maryam, Taufik’s vote tally is currently only behind six other people, namely Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal (National Awakening Party) with 51,273 votes, Dede Yusuf Macan Effendi (Democratic Party) with 41,828 votes, Ahmad Heryawan (Prosperous Justice Party) with 31,144 votes, TB Ace Hasan Syadzily (Golkar Party) 28,845 votes, Ahmad Najib Qodratullah (National Mandate Party) 22,390 votes, and Anang Susanto Suhendar (Golkar Party) 21,314 votes.

Even so, there are still a number of irregularities in the results of the 2024 Election Calculation Tool or Sirekap for Legislative Elections (Pileg) because there is a difference between the total number of party votes obtained and the accumulated number of votes obtained by each legislative candidate.

The official vote results that will be determined by the KPU are manual vote counting carried out in stages from sub-district, district/city to national level.

Before running, Taufik Hidayat was an Indonesian badminton legend. He has a world champion title and has a complete gold collection from the SEA Games, Asian Games, to the Olympics. Apart from that, Taufik Hidayat has also held the position of world number one men’s singles badminton player. Having been Indonesia’s mainstay in men’s singles starting in the late 90s, Taufik finally decided to hang up his racket in 2013.
