Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Extreme climate changes are changing trends in the beauty industry. Beauty products, both skin care and make up, are not only required to produce maximum quality but also protect consumers from the evils of climate change.

Meteorological Agency data The Meteorology, Climatology & Geophysics Agency (BMKG) shows that the hot weather in Indonesia in early October 2023 will be around 35-39 degrees Celsius and 35-38 degrees Celsius at the end of September.

This hot temperature is far above normal conditions. According to BMKG nThe normal climatological air temperature in Indonesia for September 2023 for the 1991-2020 period is 26.6 degrees Celsius. Where the normal temperature range is 20.1-28.6 degrees Celsius.
Hot temperatures of course have a negative impact on many things, including beauty. Exposure to too hot sunlight will dry out the face and can damage the skin barrier and cause black spots.

This climate change phenomenon is not only experienced by Indonesia but also throughout the world. The magnitude of this phenomenon then increases the demand for beauty products that protect against climate change.

Report Future Market Insights (FMI) shows that sales of beauty products containing anti-pollution will reach US$ 870.4 million in 2022 or around Rp. 13.87 trillion.
Demand is estimated to reach US$ 1.4 billion in 2031 or around Rp. 22.31 trillion.

Skin care manufacturer and make up in Indonesia does not want to be left behind in responding to the large demand for products that better protect women from climate change.
Moreover, Indonesia’s location is in a tropical region with high exposure to sunlight.

Luxcrime founder, AhmadNurulFajri, said that the impact of extreme climate change was one of the considerations in developing its products.
One way is to add ingredients that provide a more moisturizing effect. Their foundation is also equipped with anti-SPF to protect Indonesian women.

“Indeed, it will be according to conditions and developments. We will be more intensely hydrating, which will keep the skin from drying out. We will also add anti-pollutant and SPF ingredients because of the high sunlight,” said Fajri, to CNBC Indonesia, in Jakarta, Thursday (26/10/2023).
Luxcrime will launch several new products which will also be useful for protecting against the impacts of climate change, namely sunscreen spray.
“We are adapting to climate change which is getting hotter,” he added.

Christofer Lesamana, VP BeautyHaul Group, also revealed a similar strategy. For the record, Beuaty haul houses several product brands such as Somethinc and amaterasun

“Of course this hot weather can affect the health of our skin, causing dry skin, dehydration, redness of the skin, causing acne, causing black spots or causing the skin to burn due to direct exposure to sunlight,” said Christofer, to CNBC Indonesia.

Not only selling products, Somethinc also continues to provide education, understanding or outreach to the public through online and offline activities to encourage people to pay more attention to their skin by using skincare that has the best quality ingredients that suit their skin type.

One way is to use a moisturizer or facial moisturizer which can provide moisture to facial skin, soothe reddish skin due to heat, and soothe active acne.

BeautyHaul Group also released sunscreen products under the Amaterasun brand with the first Intelligent DNA Guardian TM technology in Indonesia which can protect facial & body skin down to the DNA layer from UVA & UVB rays, strengthen the skin barrier & increase skin hydration.

“In the current hot weather conditions & extreme temperatures, people need to take precautions. One of them is choosing sunscreen with the right SPF,” said Benny Yahya, Co-Founder of BeautyHaul Group.
