Voice Chat starts with the appearance of a bubble in the chat (in-chat bubble) which the user can tap to immediately join.
Call controls also remain at the top of the chat, allowing users to quickly mute, close, or send a message to a group without having to leave an existing conversation.
“Like calls and private messages, WhatsApp also protects voice chats with end-to-end encryption by default,” WhatsApp said in a press statement.
The voice chat feature will roll out globally, to large groups starting with groups with 33 or more members.
Voice Chat is available at the top right of the group chat with a sound wave-like symbol. According to CNBC Indonesia monitoring, Wednesday (15/11/2023) morning, Voice Chat is already available in large groups, according to what WhatsApp said.
