Toyota Recalls 1.8 Million Units of This SUV, These Are the Models News – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Toyota in the United States is carrying out a recall program for the RAV 4 sport utility vehicle (SUV) type car. No half-heartedly, a total of 1.85 million cars are included in the program recalls.

“Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2013-2018 model year Toyota RAV4 vehicles in the United States. Approximately 1,854,000 vehicles are involved in this recall,” wrote a Toyota United States press statement, November 1, 2023.

This recall is due to a problem with the car’s battery which could cause a fire. The reason is because the size of the 12 volt battery/replacement battery is smaller than the dimensions of the factory default battery.

If it is not installed with additional support, the battery will move or be shocked when the car is running, giving rise to the potential for electrical short circuits and sparks.

“If a solution is available, Toyota dealers will replace the battery retainer clamp, battery holder and terminal cover with a better one at no cost to the owner. For all vehicles involved, Toyota will notify customers by the end of December 2023,” Toyota wrote in US.

The RAV 4 is one of the best-selling cars in the United States. During January-August 2023, this car was the second best-selling car in the US with sales of 264,733 units.

Even though it sells well in the US, this car will only enter the Indonesian market in 2023 at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in the electrification segment, and even then only 10 units will be available this year. The price of the Toyota RAV4 GR Sport PHEV reaches IDR 1.15 billion and is a CBU import from Thailand.
