Using Telkomsel, Fishermen Can Open Mobile Applications in the Middle of the Sea Tech – 43 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Telkomsel collaborates with ZTE Corporation to launch the MarineMobile solution for fishermen. By using the Telkomsel network, this cellphone application can be accessed in the middle of the sea to support fishing activities.

Some of the features provided by MarineMobile are weather forecasts, determining the best fishing locations, GPS tracking and direct access to buyers in the market. These features help fishermen go to sea more effectively and precisely, thereby cutting costs and increasing profits.

Now fishermen can access MarineMobile to access third-party applications, increasing operational effectiveness and efficiency, as well as reducing costs and increasing profits with more precise fishing activities.

So that fishermen can continue to use the MarineMobile application, Telkomsel is working with ZTE to improve the quality and expand the coverage of Telkomsel’s broadband network in the Gorontalo area.

Expansion utilizing ZTE’s 5G radio equipment and Active Antenna technology means that Telkomsel’s 2G network in the open sea can reach 72 kilometers, the 4G/LTE network up to 69 kilometers, and 60 km for the 5G network.

“Telkomsel and ZTE’s strategic collaboration is a joint effort to realize national maritime potential through the implementation of innovative 5G technology,” said Telkomsel Network Director Nugroho.

The MarineMobile solution integrates massive MIMO technology and Ultra5G coverage features with a ZTE device called i5GC. ZTE devices are claimed to provide flexible network backhaul solutions with low signal latency and capacities of up to 250 Mbps.

Based on data from the Gorontalo Regency Maritime and Fisheries Service, the volume of fish catches in the area increased 11 percent in the second quarter of 2023 after Telkomsel and ZTE deployed their technology in the coastal area of Batudaa Pantai District.
