Viral e-KTP Moving to IKD End of 2023, Kominfo Clarifies Tech – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) caused a stir on social media by announcing that e-KTP would be changed to IKD or Digital Population Identity.

“Sayonara, e-KTP. Welcome, IKD!” That’s the writing in the image of Kominfo’s Instagram post.

The post regarding ‘Sayonara e-KTP’ currently appears to be no longer on Kominfo’s Instagram feed, aka it has been deleted.

Regarding the viral post, the Director General of Information and Public Communication (Dirjen IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Usman Kansong, admitted that he did not know about this matter.

He emphasized that there are no plans to change e-KTP to IKD in the near future. He also denied the viral Kominfo Instagram post which included “Sayonara e-KTP”.

“We don’t even know,” said Usman when met at the Kominfo Office, Monday (11/12/2023).

When asked about the post, the Kominfo account that uploaded it, Usman said, “It’s not certain that the post was deleted. When I asked to check the post, “where is the Kominfo post, so we can check the truth” he said it had been deleted. Who deleted it? I don’t know either. I got a question yesterday. “The same thing, many people kept asking me, asking the Director General of Aptics, he also didn’t know where this came from, you know.”

He does not think that this information is called disinformation. Because they still don’t know where the upload was originally made.

“We haven’t gotten there yet (disinformation). That’s why we asked what Kominfo’s initial post was like. We haven’t gotten it yet because it has been deleted, who knows who deleted it, we don’t know,” he said.

“That’s why we want to check, which means there are no longer posts of the Kominfo logo on Kominfo’s Instagram. Instagram is the one that handles the public relations. The public relations we checked are also confused,” he added.

Usman reiterated that Kominfo is not asking the public to upgrade their e-KTP to IKD at the end of this year.

“So, like this, there is no such thing as this, especially at the end of this year. I don’t think so,” said Usman.

He said that there were indeed plans to change from e-KTP to IKD. Because changes to digital identity are regulated in the ITE Law, but have not been implemented in the near future.

According to him, derivative regulations are still needed in the form of Government Regulations (PP) for the ITE Law.

“It’s not certain yet, we just need to prepare what kind of protection it is so that it doesn’t leak, it doesn’t get stolen. That’s what I think.” he said.
