Why is Indonesia’s weather boiling hot? This is the BMKG Lifestyle Answer – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Towards the end of October 2023, most of Indonesia will still be hit by the dry season. In fact, Kertajati, Majalengka, West Java recorded the highest temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius from Tuesday (17/10/2023) to Wednesday (18/10/2023).

Based on monitoring by CNBC Indonesia, recently the weather has felt hotter. For example, today, Thursday (19/10/2023), the Weather application by Apple shows that the sensation of heat in Tangerang during the day is 37 degrees Celsius, even though the actual temperature figure is only 34 degrees Celsius.

Based on climatological data from 1991 to 2021, the average maximum temperature in a number of large Indonesian cities geographically located south of the equator reached its highest value in September and October.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) revealed that the maximum temperature measured in several regions of Indonesia during September 2023 reached a range of between 35.4 to 38 degrees Celsius during the day.

Actually, what is the reason why Indonesia is still hit by scorching hot weather, even though the rainy season generally starts in October?

Quoting from the upload of the official BMKG Instagram account (@infobmkg), one of the causes of sweltering hot weather in Indonesia is the minimal level of cloud growth, especially during the day. Apart from that, air humidity levels in a number of areas are relatively low.

“The apparent position of the sun shows movement south of the equator which has the impact of relatively more intense solar radiation on Indonesian territory,” wrote BMKG, quoted Thursday (19/10/2023).

According to BMKG predictions, hot and sweltering weather in several areas could still persist throughout October 2023. However, air temperatures are predicted to decrease in November 2023 as the season transitions.

“The decrease in temperature is predicted to start occurring in November in line with the start of the transition or transition period in several areas,” wrote BMKG.

Jabodetabek weather forecast today

In a separate upload, BMKG predicts that the weather in the Jabodetabek area today, Thursday (19/10/2023), will generally be sunny and cloudy.

Meanwhile, based on weather predictions for Friday (20/10/2023), most of the Jabodetabek area is predicted to be sunny and cloudy with Tangerang having the potential for light rain.
